The Baby Hair Debate

Ok…..this is a sensitive subject so get out of your feelings immediately. Let’s talk about  this baby hair ordeal.

Here are a few rules and tips you will need to perfect your baby hair:

The number ONE rule, DO NOT PUSH IT! If it ain’t there and you can’t fake it till you make it…let it go. Show off that nice hairline full of healthy edges and keep it pushing.

TWO: Comb out your edges before applying any kind of gel or edge control. You need those things detangled.

THREE: Take only what is available. If you have a few whiskies then that is what you are working with. Please do not take full grown hairs and paste them to the side of your face.

Now that we have solved that problem, onto the next.

FOUR: Take a toothbrush or a baby hair edge brush and edge control and brush the hairs down towards your eyebrows. They should not reach you eyebrows, just follow this motion

FIVE: Follow the flow of the baby hair curl. Baby hair resembles those little itty bitty curls we had when we were babies so please don’t have straight baby hair. Take your brush, dip it slightly in the edge control, and follow the swoop

SIX: Continue following the end of the swoop into your hair.

SEVEN: You are allowed some creativity but not too much. Natural is the look we are going for.

EIGHT: Wrap it up almost immediately! Use a scarf, bandana or whatever you use to allow the gel/edge control to set. For maximum hold, wear it for as long as you can.

NINE: We tend to focus on the baby hairs in the front, but don’t forget those little curls that form in what we call the “kitchen.” Make sure they are detangled and some gel is applied to hold the curl or to brush into the style.

TEN: Unwrap and go on with your bad self!
